Black Mountain Tailgate Market...Just One Reason to Love Black Mtn.

Every day I run in to someone living here telling me about how blessed they feel to be here, how “the air just smells good here,” how good the restaurants are, or how they just discovered some new place they love. I too feel blessed, sometimes even a bit guilty for how good we have it. Yes, I know there are downsides...there always are, but even those seem to make us all more appreciative for the upsides…the good meals, the sunny days, the live music, the good friends...

...and the Tailgate Markets.  Now, for the last two weekends I have wanted to write about the beautiful bounty found every Saturday morning at the Black Mountain Tailgate Market; however, I must admit somewhere between the rare pleasure of the kids sleeping in (enjoying the early morning of calm and coffee) and some prior scheduled work appointments I just couldn’t get there…as simple as getting there seems. This weekend, though, I have promised myself and my empty vegetable drawers that I will succeed…I will go, I will want more than I can buy…more than we could eat, but I will come away finally satisfied with a basket overflowing with colorful local produce… and maybe some flowers! Oh, I can’t wait! So, meet me there this Saturday.

Oh, and some other great events this weekend…
 - Black Mountain Center for the Arts hosting a concert 7:30pm - Cary Fridley and Down South
 - Grand Opening for the Artisan Gourmet Market both Friday and Saturday all day, door prizes, gift
baskets and gift cards. There will be free sampling and many grand opening specials.
 - Live Music at the Straightaway Cafe, Pisgah Brewing Co., White Horse Black Mountain, Cellar Door, and Beacon Pub
Feel free to comment and share any other fun events this weekend...I know a little "birdie" who would love to know!
