Park Rhythms

Last night was an absolutely perfect night at Park Rhythms at Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain...it was crowded, but not too crowded where the kids couldn't run around, dance and play, it was an ideal temperature (probably 74ish), clear skies, friendly dogs sitting quietly next to their owners drooling over the BBQ that filled the air from Okie Dokie's Smokehouse, and of course the cool funky sound of Kat Williams and her band.

She sang familiar songs that made you want to dance...even if, for some, dancing just meant sitting in your chair tapping your foot.  From "Sweet Home Alabama" to "Billie Jean" to "It Had To Be You" Kat Williams' soulful sound really carried the music through the evening air straight into your heart.  For the kids she even sang the "Hokey Pokey" (or should we say the Okie Dokie!) and had the kids center stage...it was really a fun affair for all. Whether you had kids or not, had a dog or not, lived in Black Mountain or not, everyone enjoyed themselves...left with smiles and, if I'm not mistaken, that warm feeling in their hearts that this IS summer and all is well in the world...even if all is not so well.

Ya'll (see my earlier post for my disclaimer here) really should come out and experience the fun for yourselves...Thursdays 7-9pm all summer...FREE, but you will want some food while you are there so bring some cash, a blanket or some chairs, a dog if you have one, kids if you have some...and if you don't...you can maybe borrow mine!!  However, I'm actually quite fond of them so I will want them back!

Upcoming Schedule...
June 17-Kat Williams (blues/funk)
June 24-Westsound (Cookin R&B groove)
