Snow Days

The "South" isn't feeling so southern these days with the piles of snow and temperatures in the teens.  I have to admit it takes a little getting used to for this Florida girl.  Though I can't really call myself a true Floridian any longer, I am realizing that I have yet to build up my winter grit...and at the look of things, I'm just gonna have to.
"To Grandmother's house we go..."
However, there are some wonderful things I just adore about the snow...
 - sleeping in...even the kids have gotten used to it with all of their snow days
 - our little Black Mountain has never looked so lovely...blanketed in fresh snow everything just looks cozy and beautiful.
 - being snowed in is a great reason to be crafty...it's a good time to take up knitting/crocheting
 - as everyone ventures out, there is a new found neighborhood camaraderie...nothing like shoveling your neighbors driveway to make you the most loved one on the street!
 - hot tea never tasted so good...it just warms you from the inside
 - and after an hour of sledding there is nothing better than cozying up to watch a good movie and eat freshly baked cookies

Also, I must mention that the White Horse is having a Keep White Horse Kickin Event this Sat.  You really must go...it will be wonderful music, food from Morning Glory, and a great way to support our favorite local music venue!!

Let us know what keeps YOU warm and happy in the winter!

We may not have snow but it is cold, windy and damp here in Tampa....Right now I would trade in so called sunny Florida for a warm crackling fire place with views of the Graggy Mt range, a nice book and pot of home made chicken soup simmering on the stove.
