Black Mountain Greenway Challenge at Pisgah

Pisgah Brewing Company, a local favorite, is hosting the Fourth Annual Black Mountain Greenway Challenge 5k and 10k race this Saturday, April 2nd.  I love this race (and by that I mean I love watching this race) because all of the proceeds go to the Black Mountain Greenways...and I love knowing that one day Black Mountain will be one of those walkable towns connected by beautiful little trails busy with runners, bikers, those going somewhere and others just on a stroll.  It really will exemplify the heart of our little town...connecting people by connecting places (slogan maybe?).

The Greenway will connect and add to existing sections of trails such as the Oaks Trail, Lake Tomahawk, Riverwalk Park Trail (behind Bi-Lo), a portion already along Flat Creek, and a small section joining the Primary and Elementary schools.  The Greenway Commission has already been hard at work this year...you really must see what they are up to.

I was at the race last year cheering on my hubby and many other friends as they crossed the finish line.  It was a blast.   Over 300 runners will be racing but it's not too late for early registration.  You have until Wed. night to register here for the early discount.  Hope to see you...I'll be cheering for ya!!
